I am deeply proud to announce that last November (on 15th at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Ontario, and then on 19th at St. James Cathedral in Toronto) David Briggs has done the World Premiere of my own transcription, for organ solo, of “La Valse” by Maurice Ravel:
After three months intensive piano and organ practice, I was privileged to give the premiere performances of Eugenio Fagiani’s marvellous transcription of Ravel’s peerless masterpiece, La Valse. The first performance was at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, Ontario and the second at St James Cathedral, Toronto. This is a work which transfers brilliantly for the organ – a professional rock musician who came to the Toronto concert said that he had never heard the organ sound quite like that! I look forward to playing the transcription many times in the future – it’s marvelous for the audience, and a good way for any organist to keep fit!

Sono profondamente onorato di annunciare che lo scorso Novembre (il 15 nella Cattedrale di S. Paolo in London, Ontario, e quindi il 19 nella St. James Cathedral in Toronto) David Briggs ha eseguito in prima assoluta la mia trascrizione per organo solo de “La Valse” di Maurice Ravel:
Dopo tre mesi di studio intenso al pianoforte ed all’organo, ho avuto il privilegio di eseguire la première della meravigliosa trascrizione di Eugenio Fagiani dell’impareggiabile capolavoro di Ravel: La Valse. La prima esecuzione è stata nella St Paul’s Cathedral, London, Ontario e la seconda presso la St James Cathedral, Toronto. Questo è un lavoro che si adatta perfettamente allo strumento – un musicista rock professionista che ha assistito al concerto di Toronto mi ha detto che non ha mai sentito un organo suonare in questo modo! Non vedo l’ora di suonare molte volte questa trascrizione in futuro – è meravigliosa per gli ascoltatori, ed un ottimo modo per un organista per tenersi in forma!
